    Nick Masullo - “Something I Said”

    Posted by admin on August 7th, 2009 and filed under always something brilliant | 1 Comment »

    This archival clip of Front Row featuresNick Masullo, Emily Kaitz, Geoff Olsener, Kelly Mulholland, and Donna Stjerna from season Two playing “Something I Said”

    Nick is an award-winning songwriter living in the Arkansas Ozarks. Some of his writing is influenced by his experience with disability caused by an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis.

    Nick Masullo writes songs of great compassion and hope for mankind, of appreciation for the simple and basic truths of life. He writes with humor and grace, intelligence and clarity. All this in the face of a devastating illness that he lives with each day. - Emily Kaitz, songwriter

    Ive always thought a lot of Nick as a songwriter. Hes one of the classiest guys Ive ever met. - Keith Grimwood, Trout Fishing in America

    ..hes very talented and hes very creative. Its always fun to work with him. He doesnt follow the rules. He makes up his own rules. He even makes up his own amazing chords. - Donna Stjerna, Still on the Hill

    Nicks songs are about life itself, the struggles we go through as the human race and as individuals. The songs have the potential of making us all think as one, getting through life together, making a better world seem possible. He has much greater obstacles than many folks will ever have in their lives. But he doesnt look at the negative side of it. He uses everything he has to make a positive mark. Hes touching peoples hearts, always giving strength to those he comes into contact with- from a wheelchair!
    - Effron White, songwriter, Kerrville NewFolk winner

    I am very admiring your talent. Your music is full of emotions, of sensibility, of originality. People . . .will not have the feeling to listen to something that has already be done a hundred times. I would like to tell you more in a better English but I guess you can catch the general meaning…I can’t tell you which songs I will air because I didn’t find a weak one so I will pick them one by one . . . .

    Skruk/Brilliant Dadashova “Bayata Shiraz Tasnifi “

    Bayata Shiraz Tasnifi
    (Songs from Azerbaijan)

    This traditional song from Azerbaijan was arranged for a polyphonic choir and a soloist by the Norwegian choir Skruk. Azeri singer Brilliant Dadashova is one of the two Azeri singers that appear (the other is Ilqar Muradov) in this Skruk album called “Songs From Azerbaijan” and the soloist of this song, “Bayata Shiraz Tasnifi”. Skruk is accompanying Dadashova with Norwegian lyrics. This is where my problem comes in: I can understand Azeri language (except for a few very different vocabulary) but cannot speak or understand the Norwegian lyrics. So I will only post the Azeri lyrics in Turkish translation. I made an attempt to translate it into English. An approximate one, since some of the unique expressions don’t have anything that corresponds to them in English and are extremely nonsensical in literal translation. Any one who knows these two languages or has any additional info or corrections to the below lyrics can contact me through my channel and share their information.

    About Brilliant Dadashova:

    http://www.brilliantdadashova.com/az/index.html

    Text in Turkish spelling:

    Yine cilvelenip geçti karşımdan
    bilmedim ceylandır, melektir nedir.
    Aklımı huşumu aldı başımdan
    o bahar ıtırlı çiçektir nedir.

    Her gencin başında bir sevda olur;
    bir avuç yürekte bir dünya olur.

    O zülfü perişan, o kaşı keman
    and içti verdiği söze bir zaman.
    Diyorlar bu aşka hala var güman
    bilmirem bu sözler gerçektir nedir.

    Her süzgün bakışta bin mana olur,
    bir avuç yürekte bir dünya olur.

    My English translation:

    [She] passed across from me again coquetishly;
    I couldn’t tell if I saw a gazelle, an angel, or what.
    [She] took away my mind, my peace,
    that flower which has the scent of spring, or what.

    Every youth has his passion;
    and in a heart that fits in a palm, fits the whole world.

    The one who has locks of ruin, eyebrows like bows
    had wowed once to keep her promise.
    They say, there’s still hope for this love.
    I don’t know if these words are truthful, or what.

    Every dreamy glance as a thousand meaning,
    and in a heart that fits in a palm, fits the whole world.

    Postcard Wedding

    Posted by admin on July 3rd, 2009 and filed under ashleigh brilliant | No Comments »

    Hi … Please feel free to comment and you can check out more of my songs on

    http://www.reverbnation.com/tafxkz

    Thanks,

    Arul (Ta’fxkz) Baliah
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast. (Bible 1 Samuel 25:6)
    Peace be with you, even if I can’t. (PotShot 1349– Copyright Ashleigh Brilliant www.ashleighbrilliant.com )
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I wish you - A post card wedding
    I wish you - The best of everything
    I have some money in my pocket Gonna put it in a wishing well Just to wish you well

    I wish you - A post card wedding
    I wish you - A beautiful wedding ring
    May the plastic flowers around you - Take root all around the year

    I wish you - Fancy jewelry
    I wish you - a genuine fortune tree
    I wish you well and I miss you so - So much so you’ll never know

    Babe I wish - you a post card wedding
    Babe I wish - you a post card love never-ending
    May the person by your side - Always be satisfied

    May he be a saint of first degree
    To pamper you endlessly
    Like the best thing since TV
    Changing channels for your family
    May he never lose his temper
    When you do, may he recover
    To forgive you your changing moods
    And love through superlative feuds
    Theres more to life than whats convenient
    Theres more to love than a postcard moment

    If this song - Should ever earn royalty
    If there be - Any truth in bad poetry
    I guess Id tear the cheque in two and send a piece of it to you

    I can see - I can see that you’ve been blest
    I dont know - The price it cost
    Rainbow rollercoaster dreams - Have carried you through extremes and Landed on a cloud of white gold it seems

    I wish you - ‘Champagne’ for breakfast
    I wish you - Nothing but the best
    Go to the east and go to the west - There’s an acid test on lemon zest at the flavor fest

    May you - Write your words in chocolate
    May you - Invent your own sweet alphabet
    You could convolute and complicate - Eat them off a silver plate And then talk about the reasons of state

    Alright Miss Articulate
    You left without word
    Now you turned politic-correct
    and your vows have been uttered
    I wish we could have worked it out
    I wish we could have tried
    Our conversations top my mind
    Though our time is far behind
    I guess it must be worth your while
    It’s been worth mine to meditate on your smile!

    May your kingdom come seven times a night
    May your screams be done multiple times every single night
    I bet you won’t be counting right - I hope he likes it when you bite After your thing is done several times a night

    I wish you - Comfortable credits
    I wish you - Unlimited shoes
    Yeah, that’s the way the story goes - I am sorry if my feeling shows You wont understand it, I suppose

    I wish you - A packaged honeymoon
    I wish you - Could fly the night on a broom
    its a sin I guess, to still love you - Darling when my song is through I will say a prayer every time I have designs for you

    I bring you - A humble offering
    I wish you - In every song I sing
    Music has been my salvation - My cross of choice and satisfaction Thank you so much for the inspiration

    I am thankful for the gift
    Of Rock N Roll
    It is been my unrequited
    mating call
    I take the vow of celebrity
    I hope someday youll contact me
    It’s not like I want another man’s wife
    I only (slightly) miss - the love of my life
    As the poster boy of unanswered prayers
    I pray God answers every prayer of yours

    I I I miss you
