She is in 12th and always pulls the back hair….why is this and how can she stop this?
hmmm…felt compelled to answer this one. when I was in about 7th grade I had a huge bald spot on the back of my head behind my right ear. I would always twist and then sort of pull my hair and ultimately would pull out the hair. it was so strange. my mom saw the bald spot one day and freaked! she actually got me into counseling and it was very helpful. my parents had divorced when I was very young but I had some lingering stress from the whole situation and it just helped me tremendously to talk to someone even though I seemed completely normal to everyone else. (except for the fact I had this bald spot ha ha…you couldn’t really notice unless you looked). I also was under a lot of stress with full time basketball and ballet and got great grades…it just really helped me to talk to someone. good luck!

cause she is stressed because her mother is trying to control and fix her even when she is practically the age of an adult.

She is obviously stressed out. Pulling their own hair is obviously a sign of stress. You say she is brilliant and she is in twelfth, she must have a lot of weight on her shoulders. Seniors always have to work hardest their senior year and she is working hard to be brilliant. Kudos to you for raising such an excellent child.
