  • What is a rectangular modified brilliant ring shape?

Posted by admin on October 31st, 2010 and filed under brilliant | 1 Comment »

I can’t find that shape anywhere yet that’s the name of the shape on a certified appraisal report (IGI). Someone is selling her ring and I wanted to compare prices but I can’t because I can’t find what exactly is a rectangular modified brilliant.

it is called that way because it is not exactly any of the better known rectangular shapes (emerald cut, cushion cut). If I was going to try and compare, I would compare it with a cushion cut.

A Ph level of 6.81 is neutral, So is something with this Acidity level never toxic?

Just something that’s always had me scratching my head. Ever since a "mad" eccentric and brilliant science teacher once performed this experiment in front of our class many years back
He mixed some obviously very dangerous chemicals together and then consumed the contents unless we was all deceived )

That does not depend on pH. Mixing sodium and chlorine and reacting them will create salt, which in moderation is harmless, whereas sodium and chlorine are highly poisonous. Yet if the individual elements and salt were tested for pH, they would be neutral, since there is no hydrogen present to form hydronium ions that are the cause of acidity.

Toxicity depends on whether the substance triggers a response in the body that is harmful. This can happen with practically everything.

Lithopone is a brilliant white pigment used in water based paints. It is a mixture of BaSO4 and ZnS, produced?

Posted by admin on October 8th, 2010 and filed under brilliant | 1 Comment »

Lithopone is a brilliant white pigment used in water based paints. It is a mixture of
BaSO4 and ZnS, produced by the reaction between BaS(aq) and ZnSO4(aq). How
many grams of Lithopone will be produced in the reaction of 315 mL of 0.275 M
    ZnSO4 and 285 mL of 0.315 M BaS?

    First, write a balanced equation:
    BaS (aq) + ZnSO4(aq) = BaSO4 (s) + ZnS(s)
    1mol BaS reacts with 1 mol ZnSO4 to produce 1mol BaSO4 and 1mol ZnS
    315ml of 0.275M ZnSO4 = 315/1000*0.275 = 0.0866mol ZnSO4
    285ml 0.315M BaS = 285/1000*0.315 = 0.0898 mol BaS
The ZnSO4 is the limiting reactant

Therefore: From the 0.0866mol ZnSO4 used, 0.0866mol of BaSO4 and 0.0866mol of ZnS will be produced
    Molar mass BaSO4 = 233.3909 g/mol
    0.0866mol BaSO4 = 233.3909*0.0866 = 20.21g
    Molar mass ZnS = 97.4749 g/mol
    0.0866mol ZnS = 97.4749 * 0.0866 = 8.44g ZnS

    Total mass = 20.21+8.44 = 28.65g lithopone produced.
