  • Can you PLEASE help me; there is something seriously wrong with my sister?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under always something brilliant | 3 Comments »

So, my sister is 3 years older than me and she’s literally a genius. I’ve always looked up to her as she never seemed bothered by drama and stuff that other girls usually do. She’s very mature. It helps that she’s brilliant too. However, she’s always been sort of "strange" and my family and I have chalked it up as a side-effect to her being so smart. In recent years she hasn’t really left her room. She’s been writing a book for as long as I can remember and when asked what she’s doing (she literally spends ALL DAY in her bedroom) she responds that she’s working on her book, or something else that none of us understand.

Recently though, she’s been even more "off" than usual. It seems as though she’s not entirely there. She always speaks in cut off and half-sentences that are nonsensical and metaphorical. None of us can understand what she’s saying and it’s plain to see that she is not doing it on purpose. It’s like she doesn’t realize where she is or what she’s doing other than what’s going on in her head.

Please help, I’m very worried and my parents won’t do anything about it because she’s 19 and an adult. Please, PLEASE help me. I love my big sister and I’m scared for her.

Go into her room, look her in the eye and say "We need to talk" The second she becomes unresponsive or incoherent, it is in your best interest to call your parents for help. If they refuse to help you, I would look up a phone number for counseling services in the phonebook. Your sister needs a psychiatric evaluation. To me, it sounds like she could be clinically depressed, or schizophrenic. Know that none of this is your fault at all, and tell your parents it isn’t there either. If you guys keep ignoring the issue at hand, she may be in danger of harming herself. I hope all works out*

How to make a teenage boy stay on task?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2010 and filed under always something brilliant | 14 Comments »

My friend’s son, 15 years old, has a very hard time staying focused on anything. It takes him two hours, literally, to do a few dishes. It takes him 3 hours to do 30 minutes worth of homework. He can take from the time he gets home from school until suppertime to eat a snack. Not doing anything else in the meantime. Just munchin’ on the snack. He’s easily distracted, but he’s a brilliant child, all Advanced classes, etc. The advanced classes are totally his idea, but his parents have to stay after him to get his homework done so that he can go to bed. The teachers say that it is just his personality. Procrastination is not a good personality trait. Especially when he’s looking to start working within the next year. He will get the job done quickly if he has something that he wants to do, or if he has a time limit. But always setting time limits gets humdrum to both him and his parents. And a boss isn’t going to be that patient. What can his parents do?

Have you thought to ask HIM what will keep him on track? Maybe listening to music while he does his chores (dishes, etc) will help. As far as homework, he might need something (like soft music, instrumental or something like Enya, but NOT TV and turn the computer off) in the background and a little notebook beside him while working so that he can jot down anything that comes to mind. Sometimes doing this can help keep a person on track, as they won’t feel an urgency to jump up and DO the thing that just came to mind so they won’t forget it.

As far as the munching forever on a snack, it’s not that he CAN’T eat his snack in a hurry, it’s more that he’s BORED while eating the snack. Try letting him eat something non-messy (say, carrot sticks) while doing his homework, but let him know that once his food is gone, he has to come to a stopping point in his work (say, finish his math homework) before he can get any more, and that he needs to finish eating an hour before dinner so that he doesn’t ruin it.

The problem isn’t procrastination, it’s all the other things that go through his mind all the time. He needs an outlet (such as a notebook to jot down his random thoughts) so that he can then concentrate on what else he has to do. As far as the job is concerned, he’ll do fine. Some places that teens work (i.e. fast food restaurants) play music in the back where people are cooking the food, and he can use that to keep on track as well.

Have you ever had deep seated regret about something you failed to do in time?

Posted by admin on February 24th, 2010 and filed under always something brilliant | 5 Comments »

I just found out today that someone on Yahoo who I greatly admired had passed. I had always read his brilliant and kind replies and had been meaning to tell him how much I appreciated them but failed to do so. Today I asked a legal type Q and thought of him….so I looked at his Q and A….I noticed he had not answered in over 8 months…further investigation revealed he had passed!!
Shouldn’t we tell those people we admire/love/appreciate while we have the time?

    sure we should.
but most people do not until after.
maybe it’s only in someone’s passing they realise how much that person meant to them.

I tell the people in my life that i love them, and that i appreciate them - every time i speak with them. Because i really do.

As per your situation, i wouldn’t beat yourself up about it. I’m sure you were good to him in other ways. And the repsonse on Y!A after his passing was enormous. Those kind of things happen, it’s part of life. Just maybe use that as the push to tell others in your life how much you appreciate them.

As per the 1st part of the question — silva half of the people i really loved in life are all dead. Of the few i have left, half of those aren’t talking to me anymore. Idk Y but whatever. Of those that do talk to me (family) nobody knows what to do anymore. And several are sick and i don’t want them to die like the others. Whatever. Life is short, and most of our days are spent in misery. I’ll be glad when it’s over. But sure, i’ve some regrets. But don’t we all.
Nice to see you around. Hope alls well on your end.

How to think of a cutting verbal response to any verbal attack?

Posted by admin on February 22nd, 2010 and filed under always something brilliant | 7 Comments »

You know when someone says something unpleasant to you, and you’re unable to come up with a good response, but much later you always think of things you should have said. Is there anyway to develop your skill so that you think of the cutting response at the time. I know some people who a brilliant at this (although they’re not necessarily very nice people).

If you can’t think of a response go with "Sorry" as if you didn’t hear and when they repeat the thing they said word for word reply with "that’s a bad stutter you have there"

why are my kids always ill?

Posted by admin on February 20th, 2010 and filed under always something brilliant | 10 Comments »

i have 2 little girls and they always seem to be ill. if its not a cold its a cough or something else. they eat fruit and veg all the time and they r on vitims, they eat brilliant i dont have a problem with them eating or drinking. but they just always seem to b ill. anyone have the seem problems or anythin u can tell me to help them with there coughs and colds, they r havin medicines

Mine are 10 and I have exactly the same. They seem to be on antibiotics every 4-6 weeks. They eat fruits and veggies every day, they are active kids in many sports and I do not wrap them up in a bubble so I thought their immune systems would have picked up by now. They seem to get ear infections, chest infections, Upper Respiratory Tract infections and tonsillitis . Always bacterial infections. I just keep telling myself next year will be better lol. One day i hope it comes true.
The best you can do is make sure they wash their hands often (best way to prevent colds) and not to try and keep them isolated when well as the immune system gets stronger but if you make everything sterile they will actually get sicker when they pick up germs as their body has no defences.

I don’t know what to be, a teacher or a doctor?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under always something brilliant | 5 Comments »

I know that i want to do something that helps other people, that will make me happy. I also want to do something brilliant, i’ve always had quite high ambitions.

I want to be a doctor (paediatrician) because i like the idea of helping people, it would be a very rewarding career, the only thing is it’s a very demanding job and it would take a lot of time and effort, i’d be in medical school for a very long time, i like science Biolgy in particular but i don’t have a huge passion for medicine or science really, i don’t want to do something that will in the long run make me unhappy.

I’ve always wanted to be a teacher on and off, i don’t really know why, i really like children, i know it can be rewarding but then i think if i become a teacher i’ll be teaching the next generation to become something special and do something great with their lives..like become scientists, doctors and lawyers instead of doing it myself. I kind of have a little fear that i’ll waste my life lol but then i think how about if i’m a great teacher and i do something that just changes one person’s life for the better, then that makes me think how i’d love to be a teacher. I thought about things like being a teacher for the deaf however i don’t know much sign language lol but i suppose i have plently of time.

I don’t need to decide on a career right now but i like to know what i’m going to do so i can think about universities and such. I know the desicions mine but could you possibly tell me what you would do or offer any advice?

    thanks very much (:
sorry, i wasn’t sure what category to put this in, i used the first one it suggested.

there are huge variants in both.

Both jobs require lots of hours. Teachers get summer off, docs do not
Doctors, more money, more bills. (side note on money: if we get nationalized health care in the next few years, do not expect to make lots of money. There will still be money, just less of it.)
Teachers, less money, less bills (we do not get 100K student loans).

Teacher four or five years till you are on your own.
    MD you will be 30.

Both help people in differing ways. I know my students. I cannot say the same about doctors.

Doctors are more respected. Teachers have love and admiration.

You will hear the stupid thing of those who can do, those who cannot teach. Most people cannot teach worth a darn. As an example go to your local church and watch the Sunday School. Those who are good at it, are actually teachers. Those who are not, are well something else.

What is the difference between brilliant cut and the round cut?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under brilliant | 2 Comments »

I want to buy a diamond I don’t know if the round cut and the brilliant cut is the same thing or not.Can somebody tell me which is the difference.I need serious answers…plz

The way in which the diamond is cut. Brilliant cut will have greater fire (reflects more light). Round cut makes the diamond look larger.

Diamond pricing is based on the 4 C’s: Cut, Clarity, color, and Carats.

You can get a discount 1 carat diamond for under $1,000 or spend as much as $10,000 for a flawless D color.

What is a good Dubstep or Drum and Bass playlist i could add to my song selection?

Posted by admin on February 16th, 2010 and filed under briliant | 1 Comment »

my boyfriend just recently got some skullcrusher headphones and he really wants some briliant bassy songs, and dubstep remixes of the latest chart songs. Can you recommend any??

Here are some good dubstep artists along with some of their top tunes.

TC - Where’s My Money (Capsa Remix)
Cardopusher - Double Dragon / Green Disorder
    Vista - Lounge Dub
    Burial - South London Boroughs
Zomby - Godzilla / Firefly Finale
    Peverelist - Infinity Is Now
Skream - Oskilatah / Chest Boxing / Stagger
Brackles & Shortstuff - Broken Harp
Joy Orbison - J.Doe / Hyph Mngo / Wet Look
    Bar 9 - Midnight
Mala - Alicia / Miracles / New Life Baby Paris
    Quest - Stand / Eden
    Scuba - Klinik / Harpoon
Silkie - The City Limits album
    Distance - Cyclops
    2000F & J Kamata - You Don’t Know What Love Is
    Headhunter - Physics Impulse
    Seven - Siren
    Darqwan - Ghost Not Memory
    Ital Tek - Deep Pools
    Hijak - Tears
Flying Lotus - Roberta Flack (Martyns Heart Beat Mix)

There’s not really much in the way of dubstep remixes of chart music. It’s just not that type of music yet…not popular enough. The only guy who has got into that side of things is Skream, who did a remix of "In For The Kill" by La Roux. There’s not much else that is any good. All the above tunes should really test out the bass on his new headphones though.

    Here’s some drum & bass….

DJ Hazard - Killers Don’t Die
    A Sides & Makoto - Spacetrain
    Bungle - 25th Floor
Makoto - And I Love Her / Eastern Dub 2
    Atlantic Connection - Fisherman
    Hokusai - 12 till 4
Commix - Undisco / Brass Eye / Talk To Frank
    A Sides & Marky - Montpellier
    Electrosoul System - With You
    Krust - Cloaking Device
    Source Direct - Exit 9
    Brooklyn - Stages Remix
    Marcus Intalex - Afrikaa
    Kabuki - Beyond Words
    Drumagick - Ragga Style
Marky & SPY - Give Me Your Love
    Intense - Breathless
    Lenzman - Bear Trap
The Invaderz - 32 Bit Jungle
    Amaning - Soul Joy

All of these tracks have sick basslines too.

Best quotes? to me what about you? what are yours if not these?
