  • How to cook Chinese eggplant and have it stay purple?

Posted by admin on December 25th, 2009 and filed under always something brilliant | 1 Comment »

I’ve had Chinese eggplant many times in Thai and Chinese cuisine, and pan-fried it’s always a brilliant purple. However, I can’t seem to cook it without it turning an ugly brown. Advice?

NOTE: Chinese eggplant is, obviously, not the same as common eggplant.

You can steam it and then quick stir fry it, I do, I like spicy dishes so I cook it with chili garlic sauce, hot bean paste, thai curry pastes and coconut milk, even with a bit of ground pork if you want a main dish item, the trick is to cut it semi-thin, steam it for 3-5 minutes and then stir fry it quickly, in stewed dishes or long cooked curry’s it is impossible to keep it the original colour.

Will John Frieda collection brilliant brunette give highlights if I have black hair and wil it damage my hair?

Posted by admin on December 25th, 2009 and filed under brilliant | 2 Comments »

I want to dye and get highlights in my hair but am not allowed to. So I was wondering if the John Frieda collection brilliant brunette will give me highlights if I have black hair and if it will wreck my hair? Also how long will I have to use this product?

Not really. What these products do is use a gloss color to coat the hair shaft with a hint of color to brighten an already existing color. They’re not intended to be used to actually color the hair. For example, a blonde that uses a red based color shampoo (like the John Frieda collection) will not end up with red hair. They’ll end up with pink hair. A person with brown hair that uses a red shampoo will simply end up with a reddish tone to their brown hair.

If you’re looking for color to add some definition and dimension to your hair, you can try all natural methods like lemon juice (the acidity helps the sun "bleach" your hair) and there are products like Sun In that do the same thing.

wnted 2 know which is better fiitjee or briliant tell gud reasons i want 2 do gud in iit?

Posted by admin on December 23rd, 2009 and filed under briliant | 2 Comments »

i have only these choices 4 now so plz help with proper reasons as soon as possible

It depends on which centre you choose. If you are in east Delhi, go for BT, avoid Fiitjee. Narayana is also good. In south Delhi (Kalu Sarai) and west Delhi (Punjabi Bagh) I think both are equally good. However you should consult those who have studied there. For any other place I cannot tell you much.
If you want to contact those who have studied in these centres, you can search on Google groups or orkut. You will find many communities of students from a particular centre.

what is the meaning of this "Do not expect others to fall down in a faint when you present your brilliant idea?

Posted by admin on December 23rd, 2009 and filed under brilliant | 2 Comments »

"Do not expect others to fall down in a faint when you present your brilliant ideas this week. While there is much merit in your suggestions, careful explanation and patience are required to get the point across to those who do not have your understanding. Breaking the rules has repercussions that go far beyond this small infringement. In someone’s eyes, it is the principle of the thing that matters."

It means your idea isn’t so brilliant.

How can some Americans revile Liberalism when the polit/econ/social standards of the US are founded on it?

Posted by admin on December 17th, 2009 and filed under brilliant definition | 5 Comments »

Liberal philosophy gained momentum during the Age of Enlightenment, questioning and defying traditionally established constructs of kingly divine right, supremacy of the clergy, and government regardless of consent. Famous liberal thinkers like John Locke bootstrapped the fledgling philosophy with brilliant tracts that eventually made their way into the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America and ultimately into the zenith of the country’s legal framework, the Constitution. The economic side of liberalism is a promotion of laissez-faire capitalism, a fundamental component of the functioning market that thrives today in the United States.
Taking even the general definition of liberalism (" a political or social philosophy advocating the freedom of the individual, parliamentary systems of government, nonviolent modification of political, social, or economic institutions to assure unrestricted development in all spheres of human endeavor, and governmental guarantees of individual rights and civil liberties"- Webster’s), does it not seem that opponents or general hostiles to the idea either are ignorant of its factual definition or are simply employing it as a facade to conservative bigotry?
And to the recent answers, the definition of liberalism I posted is current and the philosophical description is accurate. If you do not know the subject being discussed, do not answer this question because it simply makes you seem annoying and worthless. Thanks. (Oh, and if you do want to look up what liberalism is, just search some basic sites like dictionary.com or wikipedia.com before you start spouting garbage).
To the 3rd answer, I have a master’s in Political Science so I’m quite confident that I comprehend these principles to a greater clarity than you do. I am not combining any concepts; I made it expressly clear that I was referring to liberalism, not "liberals" or anything of that "general dimension." Take some time to purchase a dictionary so you can comprehend standard English. :) In the standard definition that follows from 18th century liberalism, liberals are the ones that are true to the foundations of this country. Conservatives are those who wish to make tradition an inescapable prison and maintain a status quo regardless of whether it is justified or whether it can be improved. Conservatives were against breaking tradition when the women’s suffrage movement sparked in the 1920s; conservatives were against civil liberties for minorities during the 1960s, all in the name of ‘conserving’ a tradition that benefited the few and oppressed the many. That is not democracy and that is not what the United States of America is; to say that a conservative today is of the same ideological ilk as the founding fathers, whether related by blood to them or not, is an offense against this nation tantamount to treason.

Because there are far to many people who just don’t know when to stop.

Is Jewelry good quality from Brilliant Earth?

Posted by admin on December 15th, 2009 and filed under brilliant | 1 Comment »

I am looking to have my engagement ring custom made from Brilliant Earth. Has any one heard of the website or bought jewelry from them? Was it good quality?

Yes. I’ve heard of them. They are big on trying to sell you diamonds that are cut from Canadian mines. They are trying to avoid using Conflict Diamonds.

Most diamonds go through the Kimberly process to ensure that they are conflict free.

    You can also try

    http://www.polarbeardiamond.com/index.html

Those diamonds also come from Canadian mines.

Truth be told, you really don’t know if a diamond is conflict free unless you were there personally to witness the diamond rough when it was dug up, and placed in your hands.

Then personally watch the diamond cutter work on your diamond over the next few months.

See where I’m going with this?

At some point, you have to trust that the system works.

Are there lists for collectors of the different soft toys made by Disney?

Posted by admin on December 4th, 2009 and filed under always something brilliant | 1 Comment »

The Disney Store (in the UK at least) used to sell many different sizes of plush - from the small 5" plushes to 5ft giants (think adult Simba!). Is there any way to tell if a ‘giant’ version of any specific character was made? Who should I ask? Ebay is useful, but people’s descriptions aren’t always brilliant.

Possibly go to the Disney store website. They might be able to point you in the right direction.
